Vazhaikkai Poriyal is a simple side dish which I prepare often...It has less ingredients and still it tastes great...It takes less time to prepare...Without coconut also we can prepare this dish..Goes well with all mild gravies and sambar...Give it a try and enjoy...

Plantain/Vazhzikkai | 1 big |
Mustard | 1 tsp |
Urad dal | 1 tsp |
Curry leaves | 1 sprig |
Cumin seeds | 1 tsp |
Dry red chilli | 1 or 2 |
Coconut slices | 1/8cup |
Turmeric powder | 1 pinch |
Salt | to taste |
Oil | 2 tsp |
Peel the skin of plantain and cut into small cubes...Keep it immersed in water until use...
Make a paste out of coconut,red chillies and cumin seeds....
Heat ooil in a pan and temper with mustard, urad dal and curry leaves...Then add the chopped plantain and add the required salt and turmerioc powder...Mix well...
Saute it till the plantain become little soft...Then add the ground paste to it...Mix well and cook till all water evaporates and plantain become little brown in colour...
