Sambar sadham, this rice I prepare usually when I cook just for me and my little one...Just add the veggies You have at hand....I added the veggies i had at hand...carrot,beans, broad beans,pumpkin....potatoes,cauliflower,radish any veggie according to your taste you can add in this...Simple and easy to prepare...Do try and enjoy...We had it with appalam and mango pickle....

Rice | 1 1/2 cup |
Toor dal | 1/2 cup |
Mustard | 1/2 tsp |
Urad dal | 1/2 tsp |
Curry leaves | 1 sprig |
Shallots | 4 or 5 |
Carrot | 1 big |
Broad beans | 6 or 7 |
Green beans | 6 or 7 |
White pumpkin | 1 small piece |
Tomatoes | 2 small |
Turmeric powder | 1 pinch |
Sambar powder | 1 1/2 tsp |
Salt | to taste |
Oil | 1 1/2 tsp |
Cilantro | to garnish |
Method
Heat oil in a pressure pan and temper with mustard,urad dal and curry leaves....Add chopped shallots and saute for a minute....
Add the chopped veggies carrot, broad beans,green beans....Saute for 2 minutes then add chopped white pumpkin...U can add any veggie you like...
Add chopped tomatoes and sambar powder and turmeric powder...
Saute for some time and then add the soaked toor dal...Then add the soaked rice and mix them well...
Add water and salt ...Pressure cook for 4 or 5 whistles, then in simmer for 5 minutes...Garnish with chopped cilantro...
