Cilantro chutney/ Kothamalli Thogayal/ Side dish for Idly Dosa


Cilantro chutney, which i present here is our home style preparation...Mom,MIL both make this chutney...It has a bit of sweet and hot flavour...It can also be prepared without adding jaggery...That way also it taste good...But adding a pinch of jaggery surely enhances the taste...We like it a little bit sweet too..hence i added 1/8 cup jaggery...Try this and enjoy...


Ingredients

Cilantro1/2cup 
Red chillies4
Urad dhal1/4 cup
coconut slices1/4 cup
Jagggery/Brown sugar1/8 cup
Saltto taste

To Temper

Mustard1 tsp
Urad dal1 tsp
oil1 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig

Method
In a pan,heat some oil and roast the red chillies and urad dal till golden brown...Set aside...In the sane pan saute the cilantro...

No need to omit the stalks...Saute them till they reduce in quantity...Let them cool a bit and add coconut slices,salt and jaggery...

Grind it into a smooth paste...Temper with mustard,urad dal and curry leaves...
