Carrot Muttaikose Poriyal / Carrot and Cabbage Poriyal /Side dish recipes


Carrot muttaikose poriyal is a mild poriyal which can be served with spicy gravies...This is served in the kalyana veedu often in our side...Sometimes they add beans also in this recipe...It tastes divine with the kalyana veedu style sambar...I have added only one green chilli, since my lil.one will be eating...You can add more if u want it more spicy...

Ingredients

Carrot1 big
Cabbage chopped1 /2 cup
Moong dal1 tblsp
Mustard1 tsp
Urad dal1 tsp
Green chilli1 slitted
Curry leaves1 sprig
Coconut scrapped1/8cup
Shallot2 or 3
Saltto taste
Oil2 tsp

Method

Soak moong dal for 10 minutes in water...Heat a kadai with oil and temper with mustard, urad dal,curry leaves,green chilli and shallots...Add the chopped carrot and soaked moong dal to it...

Saute till the carrot become slightly soft...Then add the chopped cabbage to the kadai...

Mix well and saute till cabbage become slightly soft...Finally add the scrapped coconut and saute for a minute and then switch off the flame...
