Saamai Ven Pongal /Millet Recipes

Saamai ven pongal has become our family's favourite dish now a days...We like pongal to be mushy consistency...Saamai particularly suites this pongal very much...also not much heavy on the palette like our usual rice pongal....Now a days everyone is adding more of these millets in their diet and it's health benefits attracts everyone...Definitely not  a compromise in taste at the same time...Do try and enjoy...

Moong dal1/3 cup
Ghee2 or 3 tblsp
Mustard1 tsp
Urad dal1 tsp
Jeera/Cumin2 tsp

Cashew2 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig
Water4 or 5 cup

Take 1 cup of Saami / Samo seeds and 1/3 cup of moong daland wash it...Add 4  to 5 cups of water and required salt to it...Pressure cook for 4 or 5 whistles...

Heat ghee in a kadai and add mustard, urad dal, cumin, pepper, cashew pieces, ginger, green chilli and curry leaves...After everything gets fried add little hing at last...Pour it on top of cooked pongal and mix well...

Enjoy hot with sambar and coconut chutney...I'm sending this to "Come, join us for Breakfast" event by cooking for all seasons....
