Beetroot Channa dal Poriyal / Beetroot kadalaiparuppu Poriyal


Beetroot is the veggie which I want to add more in our diet, since its a good source for iron...We like this combo of beetroot with channa dal than plain beetroot poriyal...So I am sticking with this combo now a days...My little one likes this with curd rice...Don't know why ,may be because of its colour combination...Do try and enjoy this healthy veggie...


Ingredients

Beetroot2 small
Channa dal/ Kadalai Paruppu2 tblsp
Oilas needed
Mustard 1/2 tsp
Urad dal1/2 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig
Coconut shredded2 tsp
Green Chilli1 or 2
Saltas needed

Method


Remove skin of beetroot and shred it finely...Boil channa dal slightly or soak in water till little soft(I kept it in pressure cooker along with rice for  2 whistles)...

Heat oil in a kadai and temper with mustard, urad dal,green chilli and curry leaves...Add shredded beetroot and fry for 5 minutes...

Add the channa dal to it and mix well...Add required salt and fry for 2 more minutes...Add shredded coconut and mix and switch off after 1 minute...

Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped curry leaves...
