Whole wheat Scones with dates and raisin


Scones are a perfect holiday breakfast....also a good snack with afternoon tea...these airy and flaky scones are easy to make...I made it with whole wheat flour, added dates and raisins(since I had at hand)....the combinations are endless....We had it for breakfast along with a dallop of sour cream...You can have them with soft butter , jam or cream...as sinful as you want...We all liked it with our morning coffee...Do try and enjoy this yummy breakfast...



Ingredients

Whole wheat flour1 1/2 cup
Sugar1/4 cup
Salt1/2 tsp
Baking powder1 tsp
Baking soda1/4 tsp
Butter1/3 cup
Yogurt/curd1/2 cup
Egg1
Dates chopped1/4 cup
Raisins1/8 cup

Method


Combine whole wheat flour,sugar,salt,baking powder, baking soda in  a wide vessel....Add the cold butter cut into small cubes to the flour...Combine with hands until flour becomes crumbly in texture...

Take butter milk in a bowl and crack an egg in it....whisk well...Make a dent in the middle of flour mixture and add this egg mixture..

Make a dough out of it....Stir in the dates and raisins....Take out on kitchen counter and roll as a 8 inch round shape sprinkling flour as needed...Place it in a 8 inch cast iron pan / any oven prof dish...Mark cone shape using knife for easy cutting after baking...

Bake at 425 degrees farenheit ( 218 degrees celcius) for 15 to 20 minutes or until becomes golden brown on top....Cut as cone shapes...
