Avaraikkai Poriyal/Broad beans Poriyal /Side dish recipes


Avarikkai is a veggie which i hate eating before marriage...but my hubby likes it so much...During pregnancy,I began to like this, while trying to add many green veggies to our diet..Now a days i'm preparing it often...

Ingredients
Avaraikkai-1/4 lb
Sambar Powder-1 tsp
Shallots-5 or6
salt- to taste
Coconut scrapings-1 tblsp

To Temper
Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp
Urad dal-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves- 1sprig
oil-1 1/2 tsp

Method
Cut avaraikkai in small pieces as shown below...Sprinkle some water(1/8 cup)and pressure cook for 1 whiste....and in low flame for 5 minutes...(i kept it along with rice)...



Take a pan and temper with mustard,urad dal,curry leaves and then add shallots and fry them till transparent...Now add the boiled avaraikkai and add salt and sambar powder...


Mix well and fry for 5 minutes....Add the coconut scrappings and fry for a minute and switch off the flame...


Enjoy avaraikkai poriyal with vatha kuzhzmbu or poondu kuzhambu...goes well with sambar too...
