Thalappakattu Chicken biryani

My husband is a big fan of biriyani...he likes to taste different types of biriyanis...so i always search for different styles of biriyanis...and i found collection of biriyani recipes in Jopreets kitchen here...I tried this recipe and found it the most flavourful..and we all liked it so much...

Ingredients
Chicken-1/2 lb
Turmeric-1/2 tsp
Salt-to taste
curd-2 tblsp
Lemon juice -1/2 lemon
Red onion-1
Green chillies-3 /4
Mint-1 cup
Cilantro-1 cup
Ginger garlic paste-2 tblsp
Rice-2 cup
Oil-2tblsp
Ghee-1 tblsp
Cinnamon-1 inch
cardamom-2
cloves-3
bay leaves-2
Tomato-1 big/2 small
Red chilli powder-1 tblsp
Garam masala powder-2 pinch

Method

Wash and clean the chicken and marinate it with lemon juice, curd, salt and turmeric...let it stand for some time..

Meanwhile prepare a fine paste out of onion, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, mint and cilantro...

Wash the rice and drain the water and keep it aside...Heat a pressure pan with oil and ghee and temper with whole garam masala..cinnamon,cardamom,cloves and bayleaves....

Now add the chopped mint and cilantro leaves and fry for a minute...Then add the marinated chicken and fry for 5 minutes..

Then add the chopped tomatoes and fry for a minute...Now add the ground paste, chilli powder and garam masala powder and mix well...

Cook it till the oil seperates from the sides in medium flame...

Then add the water(rice:water=1:11/2)and let it come to a boil...now add the rice and mix well and check the salt...

Close the lid and pressure cook for 2 or 3 whistles and then switch off the flame...Let the pressure get settled and then open the cooker...

More gravy will be on top of the rice...give it a really good stir so that it gets mixed well and chicken is contributed everywhere,,,

Enjoy this yummy biriyani with raitha...
