Vazhaikkai Pittu kari /Plantain Side dish /Side dish recipes


Vazhaikkai Pittu Kari is my favourite since my childhood...My mom makes it often with sambar...In this dish we are steaming the veggie,so the nutrients will not be lost...It will be a mild dish also...Once boiled, just in 6 or 7 minutes the dish will be ready...



Ingredients

Mustard1tsp
Urad dal1 tsp
Red chillies2
Curry leaves1 sprig
Shallots3 or 4
saltas needed

Method



Steam the plantain in pressure cooker for 1 whistle and simmer for 5 minutes...I kept it along with rice...Peel the skin off the steamed plantain...

Grate the peeled plantain in a grater with large holes...It will come out like pittu...

Heat a pan with oil and temper with mustard, urad dal,red chillies and curry leaves...Add the chopped shallots and fry them till transparent...Then add the grated plantain and required salt...

Mix well and fry for 6 or 7 minutes...The plantain will become slightly toasted....You can add grated coconut if u want and fry for a minute then...here i didn't add...

With coconut it will taste even better...Enjoy with any spicy kuzhambu or sambar...
