Onion Tomato Chutney/ Thakkali Vengaya Chutney / Kara chutney


Spicy Kara Chutney with tomato and onion is a regular one in south indian household...Here's our home style of preparing this chutney...Goes well with idli, dosa excellently...

Ingredients

Red onion1/2 big
Tomato1 small
Garlic1 pods
Red chilli5 or 6
Coconut slicesfew 
saltas needed
To Temper

Mustard1/2 tsp
Urad dal1/2 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig
Oil1 tsp
Method

Heat oil in a kadai and temper with mustard, urad dal and curry leaves...Add roughly chopped onion, tomato,garlic and dry red chillies....


Saute them well and let it cool a bit...Take coconut slices in mixer, add the sauteed items and grind as a smooth paste...


Temper if desired with little gingely oil...I didn't ,since I started with tempering...
