Saamai Sambar Sadham / Little millet Sambar Sadham


Sambar sadham, I usually prepare when I prepare lunch for just me and my boy...It will be easy for me to prepare and at same time healthy for him to eat too...Little millet cooks even faster than our normal rice...It tastes so good as sambar sadham...We can have it to our heart's content, since it's easily digestible than rice..So perfect for small kids too..I'm preparing this recipe under guilt free indulgence for Blogging Marathon #53 hosted by srivalli...


Ingredients

Little Millet/Saamai1 1/2 cup
Toor dal 1/2 cup
Mustard1/2 tsp
Urad dal1/2 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig
Shallots4 or 5
Carrot1 big
Broad beans6 or 7
Potato1
Tomatoes2 small
Turmeric powder1 pinch
Sambar powder1 1/2 tsp
Saltto taste
Oil1 1/2 tsp
Cilantroto garnish

Method

Heat oil in a pressure pan and temper with mustard, urad dal, curry leaves, dry red chilli and few shallots...Add the diced veggies..I used carrot,potato and broad beans..Saute for 2 minutes...

Add chopped tomato and turmeric powder, sambar powder...After tomato turns mushy add water(little millet: water=1:1 1/2)...

Wash the millet and toor dal...After the water comes to boil add rice and dal..

Pressure cook for 2 whistles and in simmer for 5 minutes..
