Ulunthu Kali / south indian Kali with urad dal and rice

Ulunthan kali is a common food in our homes...When girls reach puberty, they usually prepare this kali continuously atleast for a month daily...and with  gingely oil on top...it smells divine...and it's very healthy for girls and women...It's very easy to prepare with just 3 ingredients and can be prepared in 10 minutes...will be helpful for busy moms in the morning...also without guilt, we can consume...My little one likes it so much....easy to feed even infants...try this healthy recipe and enjoy...
I'm sending this as my 2 nd recipe under 3 ingredient dishes to BM#53 hosted by srivalli...

Ingredients

IngredientMeasurement
Urad dal1/2 cup
Rice1/2 cup
Jaggery 1/2 cup
Gingely oilas needed

Method

Heat a pan and dry roast urad dal till nice aroma arise...Similarly dry roast rice slightly..

Grind both urad dal and rice into a fine powder...you can make this powder as a big batch and use as needed...Heat water and jaggery in a sauce pan till jaggery melts..filter if there are any impurities...

Add the powder to the jaggery syrup and mix without any lumps...Cook till it thickens to the consistency of  kali...

Add little gingely oil if needed...

  9. This is very different from the kali we make. Our kali is made only with rice and no urad dal. I love the texture of your kali!
